Emerging Trends in Real Estate is a trends and forecast publication with a 30-year history, and is the most highly-regarded and widely-read forecast report in the real estate industry. Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2010, undertaken jointly by ULI and PricewaterhouseCoopers, provides an outlook on U.S. investment and development trends, real estate finance and capital markets, property sectors, metropolitan areas, and other real estate issues. The report draws on formal and informal surveys of real estate executives and market experts around the U.S., including survey responses from over 400 real estate executives and personal interviews with over 150 industry leaders.

Dean Schwanke, Senior Vice President, Publications and Awards, Urban Land Institute, Washington, DC, Dean Schwanke directs the development of new books and research reports and oversees the work of research directors, associates, and other staff who manage book development projects, awards programs, and information service programs. He oversees development of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate reports for the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. Over the past 25 years, he has authored or coauthored numerous books and reports for ULI on a variety of real estate and development topics, including the annual ULI Real Estate Forecast from 1996 to 2003, the Mixed-Use Development Handbook in 2003, and the Resort Development Handbook in 1997.

Steven Laposa, PhD, is the Director of the Everitt Real Estate Center in Colorado State University’s College of Business. He has 26 years of project management, real estate development, and research experience throughout the U.S., as well as international experience in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia. He has worked as a consultant involved with emerging trends in real estate, as an expert witness in property litigation cases, and on the applied use of statistical modeling in real estate investment and business strategy issues. Steve recently joined the governance board of ULI Colorado.

Myron “Mickey” Miller, Co-Chairman - Miller Global - Denver
Since 1969 Mr. Miller’s experience has included involvement in the development, acquisition, and management of over 35 million square feet of buildings including mixed-use projects, high-rise offices, suburban offices, retail complexes, industrial parks, hotels, ski and golf resorts, health clubs, apartments, condominiums, real estate subdivisions, office parks and various land ventures. Mr. Miller, with his son Jim and other associates, formed Miller Properties Group in 1993. The following year, they joined forces with Denver entrepreneur Philip Anschutz to form Miller-Anschutz Properties. In 1995, Mr. Miller and his company formed a partnership with Global Diversification Corp. to acquire several office buildings. In 1996, that partnership was expanded with the formation of Miller Global Properties.
Chad McWhinney, McWhinney Enterprises, Loveland. As CEO & Co-Founder in 1991, Chad has been integral in creating a diversified real estate company that not only creates large-scale, multi-use projects but also develops, owns, and manages these properties. McWhinney has created several master-planned communities consisting of over 6,000 acres of land, and developed more than 3.6 million square feet of office, industrial, medical, retail and apartment properties throughout the Rocky Mountain region and West Coast.
