RTD’s FasTracks network grows to 88 miles this year, opening up transit-oriented development opportunities at dozens of stations in the nation’s largest public transit expansion.
Urban Land Institute (ULI) Colorado is celebrating these real estate opportunities with “TOD Marketplace: Today’s Lessons, Tomorrow’s Deals,” a two-day conference with 500+ attendees, 58 speakers, 45 exhibitors, and 6 tours, happening at Denver Union Station and Hyatt Regency Denver, Nov. 9-10, 2016.
“In addition to a who’s who of real estate leaders as speakers , the conference will allow attendees to kick the tires on potential deals by touring opportunity sites and visiting exhibitors at the Great Sites Trading Floor,” says Amy Cara, chair of ULI Colorado, and a partner at East West Denver. “This is a can’t-miss conference for anyone working on or interested in TOD.”
Conference keynote Kent Larson of the MIT Media lab kicks off the conference by previewing the future of urban design and transit. Program tracks include 9 panels looking at TOD progress since light rail debuted in Denver in 1994; present projects and trends; and the high-tech/low-tech futures of transit and TOD. The ULI’s popular speaker Ed McMahon will highlight “active transportation,” a study showing how green-ways and trails are attracting new investment in infill and walkable development nationwide.
A lunch panel features leading developers including Dana Crawford, Peter Culshaw, Buz Koelbel, and Susan Powers, moderated by Tom Clark of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation. A concluding panel features the next generation of infill developers.
On Wednesday, Nov. 9, transit tours will start and end at Denver Union Station in the A, B, D, E, G, and W lines, highlighting such hot areas as 38th and Blake, Colorado Station, Old Town Arvada, and the Welton corridor.
On Nov. 10, the Great Sites Trading Floor will run concurrently with sessions featuring 45 exhibitors highlighting projects and land and looking for investors and partners. Application to the Great Sites Trading Floor are due Friday, August 19. http://todmarketplace.uli.org/home/great-sites-trading-floor/
