For the last 60 years, Portman Holdings has developed real estate in specific urban locations—aimed at catalyzing economic development and bringing value to communities, in addition to our partners and investors. This approach has guided us through many real estate cycles, and brought us success through the selection of development and redevelopment projects of significance. It has also led us to a long-term relationship with the Urban Land Institute in many US cities and on a national level.
As we began our first endeavor in Denver—the 200,000-square-foot Union Tower West mixed-use building at 1801 Wewatta Street that we are developing in partnership with Hensel Phelps—we knew that connecting with the local ULI chapter would be the most efficient way to introduce ourselves to like-minded real estate professionals in the Denver area. We were fortunate to have been able to sponsor ULI Colorado’s Union Station tour and networking event in July of 2014, which brought many enthusiasts close to our development site.
The Portman development team is thrilled to be working in Denver and to have the opportunity to develop a project like Union Tower West. The project is exciting for many reasons, especially due to its location near the new Union Station multimodal facility. The process of bringing 100,000 square feet of class A office space and a 182-key select service hotel to this site has been very rewarding thus far. We look forward to a long relationship with the Denver market as well as ULI Colorado.
