John M. Shaw

After a diversified real estate career spanning more than 40 years, Mr. Shaw has established a real estate consulting practice and has recently been retained by the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority to manage their real estate portfolio.
Most recently, Mr. Shaw was the Executive Vice President of Development for the Loveland Colorado based McWhinney organization. In this role he was responsible for managing the commercial and community development properties, include the 3,000-acre Centerra Project in Loveland, the 935-acre Northpark Project in Broomfield, and several Metro Denver properties.
From 1995 until 2007, John Shaw was responsible for the Opus Denver, Kansas City, and the St. Louis operations and the execution of all development work undertaken within these regions. The Denver office generated more than 7 million SF of commercial properties since opening in January of 1995. The Kansas City office created and successfully completed 2.5 million SF of commercial properties since opening in 1999, and the St. Louis office developed over 1 million SF of commercial properties since opening in 2001.
Prior to joining Opus, Mr. Shaw served as Senior Vice President of Rancon Financial Corporation, where he was responsible for all acquisition, planning, entitlement, site development, building construction, marketing, leasing and sales activities for Rancon’s $350 million portfolio of office, retail, industrial, and residential properties in Southern California.
Mr. Shaw has also been the Senior Vice President of the Denver Technological Center, where he managed the land planning, zoning, development, architectural control, marketing, and sales activities associated with the nationally recognized 750-acre mixed use business park and the 1,150-acre Meridian International Business Center.
Over the past twenty-five years, Mr. Shaw has had direct development responsibility for more than 24 million SF of commercial properties located throughout the western United States.
Mr. Shaw currently serves on the Board of Governors for the University of Colorado Real Estate Council and as the President of the University of Colorado Real Estate Foundation.

Paul Books
President, Palisade Partners
Paul L. Books, the President of Palisade Partners, Inc. and the manager of Palisade Partners, LLC, has broad experience in investments and valuation. Over the last few years, Mr. Books has become a respected player in the multifamily market in Denver, Colorado. Over a two year period, Books syndicated and gained financing for the purchases of four existing multifamily properties, ranging from 26 units to 15 units, for a combined acquisition price of $5.4 million and a combined renovation budget of $1.8 million. In 2013, Books completed two new construction multifamily projects near downtown Denver. The buildings house 73 and 60 units, respectively, for a combined investment of $20 million.
Mr. Books is currently guiding Palisade Partners, LLC through the firm’s latest development projects, which include the construction of an $8.8 million 27 unit for-sale town home project in Jefferson Park. Additionally, Palisade Partners, LLC is developing and co-developing three mixed use projects and a townhome project on the Welton St. corridor and Washington St. in the Five Points neighborhood, totaling $80 million. These projects have received $250,000 in grants from the Denver Office of Economic Development for the Welton Challenge.
Mr. Books is also concurrently overseeing the development of South Maryland Creek Ranch, LLC, a 240-unit, high-end single family residential development in Summit County. Prior to starting Palisade Partners, Mr. Books enhanced his valuation background while at Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm, where he determined values for a variety of assets, from real estate to non-market goods such as wetlands. Mr. Books further developed his investment background working as an intern at The South Dakota Investment Council, which invests South Dakota employee’s pension fund.
In June 2010, Mr. Books graduated from the University of Denver: Daniels College of Business with a Masters of Science in Real Estate and Construction Management. Mr. Books received his bachelors of arts in Economics and Math with a Finance Sequence from Claremont McKenna College.
